Neurotypes

Maybe this world isn’t built for you and me…

We were never designed to fit the mould

We were never this or never that

Too much of this and not enough of that.

You are beautiful and sweet and kind.

Maybe not everyone sees you for who you are yet,

But my dear, someday they will see you.

Maybe they don’t know how to talk to us,

Or how we learn and how we think,

And learning takes time,

Just like acceptance.

So please, my dear, please be patient.

The “real world” looms, it’s scary, its new…

It strays far away from the routine we knew.

Maybe it’s hard to understand

How some of us struggle with change,

Or perhaps how some of us need clear communication,

Or when we might need something else entirely.

The people we meet are all going to be vastly different,

And that is okay, it will be okay.

You are not broken, there is nothing to fix,

Being of a different neurotype is not something to heal.

You are beautiful and sweet and kind,

Even when some people might not be able to see.

I see you.
